I'm terrified of the dentists anaesthetic needle. is there anything i can take in advance to stop the pain?

I'm having my tooth out tomorrow and i'm really scared of the pain of the needle going in cos the last time it happened it hurt like hell. is there anything i can take to stop this pain?
