How much of a difference would it make reading the abridged Great Expectations by ens vs the unabridged?

Would I miss out on anything I need to know or does it eliminate not so much needed words etc.? It's not that I'm lazy, it's just I'm having trouble reading the unabridged version. Is the abridged version less complicated/difficult to read?
