Minor in possession (Oregon)?

My boyfriend drove me home the other night and got pulled over for running a "red light".....which was not true. Anyways, he doesn't drink, and I asked him to drive because i thought that was the best choice since i had in fact been drinking. I never told my boyfriend that i had brought my bottle into the car with me, because i didnt really think it mattered. We both received Mip's when we got pulled over because the officer found it when he searched my car because i was intoxicated. I feel horrible because my boyfriends charge is much worse than mine and he did NOTHING wrong, i'm willing to face the consequences for my choices, but is there anyway he could get out of it since he really didnt do anything wrong? should he plead not guilty?? what happens when you plead not guilty? Thanks!
