Which Clic should I read first?

I am just starting out with the clics, and I have no idea which to go for first. I don't mind tomes, and I will read any genre. I know I really want to do Verne and the science fiction clics, but I don't think I should start there. if you name a book, please put a little snippit summary for me. Thanks.
