I will say with 99.999999% confidence that you need an ecu from the same year make and model. Most modern ecu's are even vin specific, meaning you need an ecu from a car with the same engine, transmission, drivetrain. depending on the car, thing such as cruise control, a/c, and other options are affected or controlled in some way by the ecu. Ask the dealer if there's any cross reference for the ecu. the parts department would know for sure.
