What is "chiron" in astrology?

Chiron is one of the many asteroids in astrology, some other more known ones are Eros, Athena Pallas, Ceres, Juno and the list goes on and on. Chiron you will hear of a lot more because in astrology it more or less is considered a planet now (note: the sun and moon are not planets either but in astrology that's what they are called) The reason Chiron is getting this glory now is because astrologers have more or less figured out the complete purpose of Chiron. In your chart it is considered your soul mate sign, now some astrologers also believe it is a wound in your life from all your past lives that just won't heal. I know in my own chart my chiron is in Aries in my 9th house. Well I do have a lot of emotional wounds when it comes to my spiritual beliefs and obtaining any kind of higher education which is all 9th house problems but then again my husband and I have some very serious Chiron aspects going on that would suggest that he is my soul mate, and to me it really does fill like he could be. I think ppl need to look over their charts to see which way it affects them. Some ppl can't grasp past life and some do not like to hear soul mate so Chiron can cause a lot of problems no matter what you think about it's meaning.
